Thermography involves the use of an infrared thermographic camera, visualizing and measuring thermal energy emitted by an object. Thermal or infrared energy corresponds to the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat.
The thermographic method, if performed correctly, using a methodology according to the international standards, allows the qualitative analysis of the building envelope that points out any possible lack in the insulation (punctual or linear, e.g.: thermal bridges), detect heat losses and air leakage in building envelopes.
Thermograms, that show surface heat variations it’s on the assessment opportunity. This technology has a number of applications: electrical systems can detect abnormally hot electrical connections or components on mechanical systems can detect the heat created by excessive friction.
In order to call a thermodynamic report reliable, its characteristics of objectivity should be indicated ensuring the execution and the subsequent interpretation of the results are objective, all over the world is required strict compliance with certain requirements which constitute the foundations of international protocols for the execution of thermography.
